The Pathways Faculty Mentors (FMs) and the Faculty Support Program Improvement Team (FSP-IT) came together for three days to discuss how to better support NIC colleges around Pathways implementation and NIC faculty around Pathways instruction. Throughout the year, this group of 12 faculty members work together to train and support new faculty in the NIC.
During this event, they reviewed FSP’s progress over the last year, shared best practices, and identified possible areas for improvement. Based on the survey results from new Pathways faculty and their students, the FMs decided that it was most important to focus their efforts on better supporting new faculty in navigating their online course. The FSP-IT team decided to focus on better supporting faculty in helping underprepared and vulnerable students succeed in Pathways courses.
As the FMs continue to gain insight around why these problems are happening and test potential solutions, we look forward to sharing their updates and learnings with the NIC. With their dedicated efforts and leadership, they are a core part of how the Carnegie Math Pathways can ‘get better at getting better.’
